Retail Compliance Analyst

Reporting to the Retail Compliance Team Leader, you’ll play an essential role in monitoring, analysing, and assessing information from across the business to ensure adherence to regulatory requirements and internal policies.

This is a hands-on role where you’ll review compliance data, validate records, identify potential risks or trends, and work closely with other departments to strengthen compliance performance. You’ll also help inform and educate colleagues across the business, supporting Betfred’s mission to maintain a culture of transparency, responsibility, and continuous improvement.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor and analyse information submitted by various areas of the business, ensuring accuracy, consistency, and compliance with internal and regulatory standards.
  • Assess and validate compliance records provided by other departments, addressing any discrepancies or concerns.
  • Develop a strong understanding of data and outputs from monitoring systems, verifying details through proactive communication with relevant business areas.
  • Identify and escalate potential compliance-related issues linked to anti-money laundering (AML), social responsibility, and regulatory obligations.
  • • Use every opportunity to inform, guide, and educate colleagues on compliance best practices and regulatory responsibilities.
  • Issue regular compliance updates and communications to other areas of the business. •
  • Collaborate with retail teams to promote awareness and understanding of compliance requirements, including safer gambling and anti-money laundering principles. 
  • Identify and highlight trends, system weaknesses, or staff training needs that could impact compliance effectiveness.
  • Monitor the receipt of routine information requests and ensure these are fulfilled accurately and on time. • Maintain up-to-date and accurate compliance records, ensuring all documentation is auditable and in line with policy requirements.
  • Support the delivery of regulatory actions or information requests as required by the Gambling Commission, Local Authorities, or other relevant bodies.
  • Contribute to the development of new systems, training, or information initiatives designed to strengthen compliance across the retail estate.
  • Perform other duties as required by the Compliance Management Team to support wider business and regulatory objectives.

What you'll need to succeed

  • An understanding of the Gambling Commission’s objectives and an understanding of our License Conditions and Codes of Practice 
  • Excellent organisational and communication skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
  • Analytical mindset with strong attention to detail and sound decision-making ability.
  • Proactive and solutions-focused approach, with the confidence to identify and drive improvements.
  • A collaborative team player who leads by example and champions compliance culture across the business.
